Hi Healthies,

We cannot deny the fact that woman's body is much more complicated than their opposite sex.  Changes occurs at every stage in a woman's life, so they require more care and they should be aware of their body.  Thyroid cancer incidence rates have been increasing throughout the world, with females having a higher rate than males.  Although we cannot predict the exact cause in an individual but we can take extra precautions by spreading awareness about certain facts that can lead to thyroid cancer at the later stage of life.  The study of researches published in 'plosone.org'  shows the factors related to hormonal, menstrual or reproductive life in women are associated with thyroid cancer.

1) HORMONAL FACTORS -

Risk of thyroid cancer in females increases with puberty and declines after menopause while men have steady increase in risk throughout their lifetime.  This is due to the hormonal changes occurs at the time of puberty in females.

2) LATE MENARCHE -

Females who had their first menstrual cycle, or first menstrual bleeding after the age of age 15 have slightly higher risk of thyroid cancer in future.

3) PREGNANCY FREQUENCY AND DURATION

If you had recent pregnancy in the last two years or have 2 live births in within 5 years are slightly more susceptible to thyroid cancer as the production of TSH is increased during pregnancy.

4) FERTILITY DRUGS

Drugs which are used to enhance reproductive fertility to stimulate follicle development
of the ovary, stimulate reproductive hormones and ovulation which in turn increases the risk of thyroid cancer in women.  Females who take progesterone (Progesterone is a female hormone important for the regulation of ovulation and menstruation) and clomiphene (Clomiphene is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) but wish to become pregnant (infertility).) are at greater risk of developing thyroid cancer.

So ladies, if you had experienced any of these factors in the past, take special precautions when you notice any of the symptoms related to thyroid (READ HERE ... ) in your body and visit your physician.  Early diagnose of any disorder will not let it get diseased.

BE AWARE AND BE HEALTHY
